PRONI WOMEN IN SPORT EVENT 27/07/2017

Titanic Quater, Belfast.
TIME: 10:00-12:00
Admission: FREE

This is an iconic year for Women’s sport in Northern Ireland. To celebrate the UEFA Women’s Under 19’s Championship and the Women’s Rugby World Cup taking place in August the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland (PRONI) is hosting an event in conjunction with the Irish Football Association (IFA), Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) and the Female Sports Forum.

PRONI will present Women in Sport Archives alongside talks from the IFA, IRFU and GAA, a preview of the new drama ‘ROUGH GIRLS – The women who moved the goalposts and kicked off a new Era’ by Tara Lynne O’Neill and a presentation by Denise Watson, sports journalist on the reporting of female sport past, present and future.

Afterwards you can meet representatives from these organisations and view ‘A Level Playing Field: Women in Sport’, PRONI’s new exhibition. PRONI will also be providing short tours of the research areas where there will be a chance to see original archival documents relating to women’s participation in sport.

Numbers are limited for this event.
